Rival Threads - Sancti x Twitter by draa Rival Threads - Sancti x Twitter by draa
A promotional image of Sancti :) Sorry for cross-posting, especially those who follow me across other sites.

--------------
I wanted to let everyone know that I'm currently on board the Studio Kontrabida team in producing a game called Rival Threads.

I'm extremely excited to be a part of the the team! There has been a fair amount of media coverage about it but ff you haven't heard of it, you can read all about it at our Kickstarter page.

The kickstarter is over now, but we're still offering rewards for people who'd like to contribute. Support Rival Threads here!

Stay in the loop!

Hello there! I love this piece, and I have some questions about your process, or the specific process you used for this.

First of all, it reminds me of George Kamitani! He's one of my favorite artists, he has a lot of cartoony appeal and a great sense of design, with a painterly style that is very raw.

What software did you use to render this piece? Also, what kind of brushes or tools did you use. Any details you could divulge would be greatly appreciated!

thanks.

Hello~!
I love George Kamitani and his team over at Vanillaware, and I aspire to have such great control and expression with digital painting one day.

I used Easy Paint Tool SAI, and just the default brushes. I think a big thing that people overlook is that, digital painting requires patience and building just as much as RL painting, if anything it's easier! People ask for brush settings, and yes those do help a bit, like shortcuts. However you just need to give the chance for the colours to build up to mix and blend :)

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I think it must be my process rather than the software I use. Right now I still treat painting like drawing, and I spend a bunch of time on line before laying in color. An old painting teacher I had used the analogy of playing an instrument; why waste time banging on the drums if you're learning to play guitar.

Thanks again, keep it up!

Very unique and eye catching! I really like the broad strokes used in coloring. Plus the Twitter chick is just adorable! ^^
